Before You Call a Technician
If your fridge isn’t cooling as it should, let’s try a quick reset first. Here’s what to do:
- Power Down: Switch off the unit and unplug it from the wall.
- Let It Breathe: Open the door and leave it for up to an hour. This lets the inside warm up to room temperature, giving the system a fresh start.
- Power Up: Plug it back in, turn it on, and keep an eye on it.
This simple step can often fix minor glitches. If the problem sticks around, move on to diagnosing it.
Diagnosing the Issue
To help us get to the bottom of things quickly, we’ll need some info from you. Here’s how to run a basic diagnostic:
- Grab the Diagnostic Sheet: Download the right one for your model here.
- Track the Temp: After the reset, check the temperature shown on the display every 15 minutes for an hour. Jot it down on the sheet.
- Snap Some Pics: Take clear photos of the controller display—showing the temp or any error codes.
- Send It Over: Email the filled-out sheet, photos, and a copy of your sales receipt to service@kingsbottle.com.au. This helps us verify your warranty and speeds up the process.
By doing this, we can see how the temperature changes and pinpoint what’s going on.
Understanding Temperature and Compressor Cycles
Here’s a quick rundown on how your fridge works, so you know what’s normal:
- Set Point Basics: The temperature you choose (the “set point”) is where the compressor aims to stop cooling. Once it hits that mark, the compressor shuts off.
- Fan Keeps Going: After the compressor stops, the fan keeps running for a few minutes, circulating cold air. On smaller units, this might drop the temp an extra 1-2°C.
- Restart Trigger: The compressor won’t kick back on until the temp rises 2°C above your set point. For example, if you set it to 15°C, it’ll start cooling again at 17°C.
This cycle is all part of the design to keep things efficient and steady.
